The Acrobats

Description

David Wynn’s statue, commissioned in 1973, is a picture of movement. It’s intelligently created to show a diving girl playing with an inquisitive dolphin, their game encounter frozen perfectly in time. You can imagine them below the waves of the sea, communicating with each other via their movement.

Here, without the water flowing, I was trying to capture the girl appearing to almost vault over Tower Bridge. You could quite easily visualise both the girl and the dolphin as two acrobats synchronised in flight.
